The deadline for applications is April 15 2005.

The Cosmetic Therapy Advisory Committee (CTAC) was established by the State Medical Board of Ohio on August 11, 1999 to assist the Board and its Limited Branch and Alternative Medicine Committee as they address issues regarding the regulation of the practice of cosmetic therapy and the education, training and licensure of Cosmetic Therapists in the State of Ohio.

Scope of the Committee:

The Committee reviews and submits recommendations to the Board concerning the following:

  • Education, testing, and registration requirements for CTs;

  • Existing and proposed rules pertaining to the practice of cosmetic therapy;

  • Application procedures and forms for certificates for CTs;

  • Registration and renewal fees required by Chapter 4731., O.R.C.;

  • Any issue the Board asks the Committee to consider.

Requirements for Committee Members:

To be eligible for appointment to the CTAC, a person must hold a current, unrestricted license to practice cosmetic therapy in the State of Ohio and/or operate a cosmetic therapy school that holds a Certificate of Good Standing from the Medical Board. The Limited Branch and Alternative Medicine Committee and its staff review applications for appointment to the CTAC and makes recommendations to the full Board which has final authority to make the appointment.  The Board attempts to assure representation of all viewpoints within the cosmetic therapy community statewide by seeking to appoint representatives of the cosmetic therapy professional associations, school representatives, private practitioners, and members from geographically distinct areas of the State.

Time Commitment:

The CTAC meets as required contingent on the number and complexity of issues it is addressing at any given time, and further contingent upon the needs of the Limited Branch and Alternative Medicine Committee.  It is not likely, however, that the CTAC would meet more than once each month under any circumstance.  Meetings usually last three to four hours and take place at the offices of the State Medical Board of Ohio in Columbus.  In addition, CTAC members spend whatever time they require to prepare for meetings, do research, respond to requests for information, and communicate with the Board and its staff.

Remuneration:

Service on the CTAC is voluntary, although the Board does reimburse members residing outside Columbus for their travel expenses.
