The State Medical Board of Ohio charges a $50.00 fee to complete and send a license verification/letter of good standing request to another state medical board, Canadian province, medical council or other jurisdiction. The Board will verify both the Ohio training certificate and permanent Ohio license for the same fee, if the practitioner held both licenses in Ohio.

Prior to July 1, 1999, training certificates were not mandatory in order to engage in an accredited training program in Ohio. Therefore, the Board cannot verify the training certificates issued prior to July 1, 1999. The NBME, NBOME, NBPME and the USMLE scores must be obtained directly from those entities.

If you have questions or concerns, you may contact the Board’s CME, Records & Renewal Department at med.renewal@med.ohio.gov or telephone at (614) 466-3934.
