2006 standing & advisory committees
The Medical Board addresses a vast array of policy issues through its 13 standing committees. Committees formulate recommendations that are forwarded to the full Board for action.
The committee structure includes two committee groups composed of six board members each. The Executive Director and members of the Executive staff conduct research and provide support to the committees. Committee actions are included in the Board meeting minutes which may be viewed on the website
The Executive Committee is composed of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Supervising Member and the Immediate Past President. The committee addresses agency budget preparation; long range planning; agency operations and personnel issues.
The Group 1 Committee includes the Education Committee; Impairment Committee; Legislative Liaison Committee; Licensure Committee; Prescribing & Pain Management Committee; and the Quality Assurance Committee.
The Group 2 Committee includes the Consent Agreement Committee; Disciplinary Policy & Guidelines Committee; Limited Branch & Alternative Medicine Committee; Minimal Standards Committee; Physician Assistant Committee and the Scope of Practice Committee.
The Physician Assistant Policy Committee (PAPC) was created by legislature in 1996, and meets to review education and registration requirements for physician assistants.
The Cosmetic Therapy Advisory Committee (CTAC) was established by the State Medical Board of Ohio in 1999 to assist the Board and its limited branch and alternative medicine committee as they address issues regarding the regulation and practice of cosmetic therapy.
The Massage Therapy Advisory Committee (MTAC) was established by the State Medical Board of Ohio in 1999 to assist the Board and its limited branch and alternative medicine committee as it addresses issues regarding the regulation and practice of massage therapy.
