Physician assistant prohibitions.
A
physician assistant shall not perform services or acts including, but not
limited to, the following:
(A)
Make a
diagnosis of a disease or ailment or the absence thereof independent of the
supervising physician;
(B)
Prescribe any
treatment or regimen not previously set forth by the supervising physician;
(C)
Prescribe
medication; sign or stamp prescriptions on behalf of the supervising physician;
have prescription blanks available that have been presigned or stamped by the
physician; or dispense or order medication, although the supervising physician's
order for medication may be carried out or relayed by the physician assistant in
accordance with existing drug laws;
(D)
Sign a
physician's name for the purpose of authenticating any prescriptions, orders, or
recordings; or sign the physician's name in any situation where the physician's
signature gives the appearance of the physician's approval;
(E)
Maintain an
office independent from the offices of the supervising physician;
(F)
Admit patients
to or release patients from a hospital independent of the supervising physician;
(G)
Represent
himself or herself in any way as being able to perform beyond the specific
functions set forth in the supervising physician’s board approved standard or
supplemental physician assistant utilization plan;
(H)
Hold himself
or herself out as being able to function as a physician assistant, or use any
words or letters indicating or implying that the person is a physician
assistant, without a current, valid certificate of registration or temporary
certificate of registration as a physician assistant issued pursuant to Chapter
4730. of the Revised Code;
(I)
Practice
as a physician assistant without the supervision and direction of a physician;
(J)
Practice
as a physician assistant without having entered into a supervision agreement
that has been approved by the board;
(K)
Practice as a
physician assistant in a manner that is inconsistent with the standard or
supplemental physician assistant utilization plan approved for the physician who
is responsible for supervising the physician assistant;
(L)
Independently
advertise, except for the purpose of seeking employment;
(M)
Practice as a
physician assistant while failing to wear at all times when on duty a placard,
plate, or other device identifying himself or herself as a "physician
assistant."
(N)
Represent
himself or herself in any way as being able to function as a physician.
