Certificate to Recommend (CTR)
The State Medical Board of Ohio is now accepting applications for a certificate to recommend (CTR) under the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program. MDs and DOs with a full, unrestricted Ohio license are eligible to apply. Full requirements are outlined in
HB523
and medical board rules
OAC 4731-32
, they include an
OSMA-approved
or
OOA-approved
, 2-hour CME course on the subject. There is NO fee for the CTR.
Watch this short video
, then apply for a CTR through the
eLicense portal
.
Applications will be reviewed by the medical board licensure team and then presented to the board Secretary and Supervising Member. A list of physicians with an approved CTR is available on the
Rosters webpage
.
Please note: the Medical Board is unable to confirm receipt of background checks or other supporting documents prior to an application being submitted.
Once an application has been submitted, any documents that have been previously received will be attached to the application. Please allow the Board 10 business days to perform an initial review of your application. After that time, you may check the status of your application by logging into
eLicense
and navigating to your license application. Select the Options tab and the Review Status option. Any outstanding items will be listed in the ‘Comments’ section at the bottom of the page.
Physicians (and patients) are advised that although sales are occuring, there may be limited inventory available. Ohio’s Medical Marijuana Program, the industry responsible for growing, producing and testing these products is in start-up phase. Not all proposed dispensary locations will be fully licensed and open for business. During this start-up phase, the industry may be unable to provide a full supply of products at all licensed locations until later in 2019.
